REFLECTION
Information and Communication Technology in Sciences (ICT in Sciences) is one of the compulsory course for students who take Sciences education. The course discusses the rationale and advantages of ICT applications in Science education. The topics covered are simulation, modelling, spreadsheets, data logger, interactive whiteboard, and other ICT applications.
ICT is an acronym that stands for information, communication and technology. The Information and Communication Technology or ICT is the technology required for information processing, in particular, the use of electronic computers, communication devices and software applications to convert, store, protect, transmit and retrive information from anywhere, anytime. The ICT course is very important to me as a Sciences student because it is very helpful that plays a major role in the field of managment. The usefulness of the subject at the future cannot be denied. ICT allows better collaborative learning . It promotes self-learning and more independent learning.
During this course, I had learned a lot of new things, because the concepts, methods and application involved in ICT are constantly evolving on an almost daily basis. Therefore, this course helps me to easily apply ICT skills to everyday life scenarios. Beside that, I get a lot of benefits from this course such as increased confidence, skills and knowledge, had creative ICT experiences and possess some new IT skills.
The course are preparing learnears for an era that no longer exists, with skill sets that does not enables effective navigation of todays complex and adaptive world. Therefore, I’m as a person who would become a Sciences teacher need to start using ICT’s in the context of learning to prepare my student for their future through blogs, mobile device, social networking site and others. I’m believe teaching with technology is not about just pushing buttons, it’s about connecting students to learning in new and exciting ways.
In this course, I had trained with a lot of skills such as how to use interactive white board through presentation, how to use a data logger in scientific experiment, simulation, and modelling. Next, everyone also had created a blog for this course to make a teaching portfolio. Teaching portfolio is a collection of my best presented systematically and thoughtfully for my own self-improvement and for others to learn about my solutions to the problem of effective teaching.
As a conclusion, Information and Communication Technology in Sciences course is very important to each student especially a Sciences student. This is because, Sciences can contribute to a technological development. At the same time, technology help us for a better understanding in Sciences concept.
